hardwood vs softwood:

exotic softwood:
-pinus radiata pine
-norfolk pine
-douglas fir- orgon

native softwood:
-rimu

-timber is dimensionally unstable.
-timber surfaces are erdded by uv light.
-untreated timber produces a source of nurient for mould growth.
